Mow Mow the shop cat

Inspired by a visit back to Hong Kong, Out of Place is a representation of being an immigrant returning back to their birth country.

Having grown up in Canada, returning to my grandparents' sewing machine shop in Kowloon for gave me a sense of isolation. Though family was around, they were almost strangers as the overwhelming feeling of distance was clear because of the language barrier and the long amount of time I had been away for.

Mow Mow was always hiding between the close packed areas of the shop as if it were trying to blend in and make a home, but clearly stuck out between the machines not matter how hard he tried.
